Scope note
Labels applied to crates, usually wooden produce crates, to identify the contents and the grower, maker, or distributor of the fruit, vegetables, nuts, or other produce contained in the crates. Crate labels typically employ art and graphic design; they are often considered valuable by museums and collectors. The art of crate labels flourished in the late-19th through mid-20th century.
